La luth enchantée
“La luth enchantée” or “The Magic Lute” is a chamber music project that originated in the friendship between Anton Birula and Anna Kowalska (Luteduo) on the one hand and Marion Fermé, the French flautist on the other. Their ensemble aims to bring out the graceful sound of the several recorders combined with the lutes. The richness of the parts proceeding from the various combinations between the recorders and the lutes, or between the theorbo with the baroque guitar, each add in a surprising way to the range of the continuo playing. Supported by their international experience the musicians offer with joy and liveliness an interpretation which shows respect for the baroque aesthetics and proves a creative association. Their concerts devoted mainly to Johann Sebastian Bach’s music and French baroque repertoire have been successfully received by the public and critics at numerous festivals in Europe, among which the Festival Bach in Combrailles 2004, Flötenhof 2005, I. Europa Bach Festival 2005, Viljandi Early Music Festival 2006 (Estonia), International Festival der Laute 2006, a concert tour in Russia in 2006 including a concert at the Philharmony of Saint Petersburg, supported by the French embassy.
“La luth enchantée” works also together with the soprano Jana Mamonova on English Baroque repertoire, encompassing pieces by unknown masters.
